Promotion/Tenure and Reappointment

The 2021-2022 promotion casebook guidelines and templates are now available.  All casebooks will be generated through Mountain Pass’ software SmartPath.  Certain sections of the casebook will be generated through the system while other items will be uploaded by the department.  Links to templates for uploading are below.   Please refer to the guidelines for reference and additional instruction.  Some changes are currently being made to the SmartPath promotion workflow, with changes to be completed in June.  We will notify departments when changes are complete, along with other details.  Please do not solicit external letters until notified.

The ADAA office is requiring that all candidates complete their CV in a standard format, to be submitted to external reviewers when soliciting letters and within the casebook.  The 2021-22 CV for instructional track or research professor track promotions should be created in SmartPath (  The pdf version of the CV may be used as reference.    If promotion candidates and their departments need help in building CVs, please contact the ADAA Office for assistance.

Please note that promotion casebooks will be due in the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) office no later than Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at noon.  The casebook review meeting with the CoE Executive Committee, Department Chairs and Associate Deans will be held Wednesday, January 19 and Thursday, January 20, 2022.  Additional information (location, agenda) will be provided in early January.
